Artist Statement
Meaning formed between previously unrelated images; this is the joy of collage. To sift through and select images from a vast collection of old books and illustrations is a meditative joy and a chance to tap into my intuition.
What emerges in my work from this process are facets of femininity, forces of creation and destruction and a tongue in cheek tale of the tragic experience of life. A surreal aesthetic occurs naturally from the foundation of play between the conscious and subconscious mind.
